McShaw Optometrists really began in 2000 with the formation of McShaw Visiting Opticians, in Sidmouth by Frederick and Soo McShaw following many years of successful practice in London. The business soon built a reputation for quality and reliability in the Sidmouth area and in 2002 the practice moved from a home based operation to chambers, 3 stories above Sidmouth High Street.

McShaw Optometrists today boasts over 6,300 patients; many of whom, come from through-out the South West Region and some from as far away as New Castle Upon Tyne and London . also We work with the West Of England Eye Unit in providing shared care for Glaucoma patients both within our practice and as part of our domicilary service.

About 50% of our clients are housebound and rely on the service that we offer them in their own homes, which was and still is the basis of our success. The majority of our clients live in Sidmouth and the surrounding areas in East Devon, Dorset and Somerset whilst almost 200 of our clients travel from as far and wide as London, Derbyshire and Sri Lanka to benefit from our services.

We have a fabulous team of eyecare professionals here at the practice with many years of experience and knowledge and a passion for good old fashioned service and personal attention.
